Macaron Christmas Trees

Recipe adapted from Martha Stewart's Parisian Macarons

Ingredients:

1 1/4 cups plus 1 teaspoon confectioners sugar

1 cup (4 ounces) almond meal

6 tablespoons aged egg whites (from about 3 extra-large eggs)

Pinch of salt

1/4 cup granulated sugar

few drops of green food coloring

Your favorite vanilla frosting (I used Dollop's Madagascar Vanilla)

Sprinkles

Gold sparkling sugar

Star shortbread cookies (Found at Trader Joe's)

Toothpicks..
